Samsung Instinct… SUCKS

UPDATE: 2/9/09

This phone is terrible.  I still see no 3rd party applications worth having.  I still don’t see things that were promised by sprint and Samsung.  This is a terrible phone, I am so angry with sprint and this phone that I have switched to the Iphone, however, I am still always looking for that phone that may overthrow the iphone.  Palm and sprint are coming out with a new phone called the Palm Pre.  It looks pretty promising, but then again so did the Instinct before that piece of garbage came out.  I’ll talk more about the Palm Pre later on.  DO NOT BUY THE INSTINCT… EVERYTHING GOOD AND PROMISING ABOUT THE PHONE IS A LIE!

UPDATE: 11/1/08

I am now in the EVDO (3g) network and the internet on my phone is still ridiculously slow. Page loads very slowly, unable to scroll that well either… do not get this phone!

I have owned the samsung instinct since it first came out in July. As I recall we were promised certain things at the time of purchase. We were promised that it would be comprable to the iphone it is not. We were promised that we would get 3rd party applications, we have not, by the way what happened with that contest? does anyone know?

One of my problems with this phone is the internet. I am not in the EVDO network where I live so I do not get the broadband speeds that sprint promotes. Because of that I wish the phone had wifi for one. Now suppose samsung gave the phone wifi, there isn’t much of a browser to view the internet on. The web browser is appalling. Even the new BH29 update that updates the browser didn’t do much except make certain sites work. I still have problems with many of the sites I log into such as Ebay and my online banking sites. I am not sure if it’s just because of my slow internet connection or what but the browser seems slow to me as well.

I hate the fact that we cannot sync the phone with outlook or any other scheduling database. There are not very many 3rd party applications available. I tried installing opera mini onto the phone and the newest version doesn’t work. The older version does work, however, there is no keyboard functionality because the developers of the software at samsung didn’t seem to think that 3rd party apps may require a keyboard. This is supposedly to be rectified in an upcoming update, but who really knows. I was also told that the 3rd party application contest would conclude by this month and we will be getting new apps soon after. I am not sure if that has happened.

I am very disappointed with this phone. Excited at first, but unable to do a lot I was hoping I could do with it. Definately looks and feels good, but does not compare to the Iphone or blackberry in functionality.

If your looking to get this phone, I would suggest against it. If you have the phone… do you agree with me?

Barack Obama’s 30 minute primetime infomercial

The Obama campaign just released their 30 minute infomercial.  I must say in my opinion it was a success.  The way it was filmed and presented was very inspirational, something Obama has been known for.  He showed struggling families and how he would help them and improve their situation.  For me personally, I don’t think I learned anything new about Obama.

Notice he did not say anything about McCain in the commercial.

My own opinion is that this was a very effective infomercial, probably one of the few that I have ever watched.  I think the Obama campaign did a good thing.  I don’t think it was over-kill or was too much.  It was informative, well presented, and stuck to the issues.

Barack Obama to have a 30 minute infomercial tonight…Too much?

Senator Barack Obama is going to run a 30 minute informercial tonight at 8pm.  He has bought airtime on NBC, Fox, CBS, BET, Univision, MSNBC, and TV one.  Each station is estimated to cost him a million dollars for the 30 minute spot.  I am assuming Fox is charging the most because the World Series is pushed back a half hour to allow Obama to have his infomercial.

Obama is up in all the polls, up double digits in Pennsylvania but only up 4 to 6 points in Ohio and Florida.  In my opinion the race will come down to these 3 states.

Do you think Obama’s infomercial is a smart move and will make a difference, or is it too much and will not make much of a difference?

Is Sarah Palin preventing you from voting for John McCain?

I have been wondering about something that I feel is important.

The media keeps stating that in the end, we are voting for the top of the ticket… I would usually agree with that but in this election I don’t know…

Sarah Palin has been out on the stump calling Obama a socialist.  The general message at her rallies is that Obama is a terrorist, un-american, unpatriotic… I feel that rhetoric like that is not only divisive but dangerous.  Sarah Palin has even come out and said that senator Obama will “rewrite the constitution.”  Her lack of knowledge on key issues is also a huge problem for me.

Senator McCain is a 72 year old man with a history of cancer.  Yes, he looks in fine shape today, but as a person who is familiar with human biology, he has a greater chance of passing away from even just the common cold.  To me his VP pick was an important choice for him, more so than any other presidential candidate and in my opinion he blew it.

As an independent voter, the issues I stated above are pretty important to me, and has in fact solidified my choice for president.   I am not happy with the divisive language of saying some parts of america are more American than others.  Some republicans have come out and said liberals are un-American.  Language like that is very unappealing to me.  I have also noticed that John McCain is not really talking about the issues.  They are talking more about why we should not vote for Obama rather than why we should vote for McCain.  There are a lot of other reasons I am unhappy with Sarah Palin and John McCain, but I won’t get into it in this post.  Read some of my other posts.

Sarah Palin was a huge factor in my choice to not vote for McCain.

Because of all of this, I must ask all of you this question.

Is John McCain’s vice presidential candidate, Sarah Palin, preventing you from voting for the McCain/Palin ticket?

You can vote however you like

So this song that was created by 7th grade student’s at Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta, Ga.

I thought it was neat how these kids made up the lyrics and all.  These kids also have a pretty good understanding of the issues as they were on CNN and talked about the issues. I love the orignal “you can have whatever you like”

Sarah Palin going “rogue”

So another juicy Sarah Palin controversy.  Not only is there the 150 thousand dollar wardrobe controversy, the troopergate scandal, and her interviews with major news networks, which she bombed, but now there is yet another one originating from inside the McCain campaign.

According to advisors inside the McCain campaign, Sarah Palin is going rogue.  She is beginning to venture out and speak to interviewers before she boards her plane.  She is also off message when she is on the stump.  For example, she has been bringing up her wardrobe controversy an awful alot these last few days.  I doubt it would be as big of a deal if she would just forget about it and let it go.  The McCain campaign would rather not have her speak about it, but she does.  Governor Palin is also said to have gone against the campaign by calling the robocalls, that the McCain has defended, “irritating” and if it were up to her they would have never pulled out of Michigan.

The advisors of the McCain camp have come out and said this about Sarah Palin.

“She is a diva. She takes no advice from anyone,”  “She does not have any relationships of trust with any of us, her family or anyone else.

“Also, she is playing for her own future and sees herself as the next leader of the party. Remember: Divas trust only unto themselves, as they see themselves as the beginning and end of all wisdom.”

The campaign also had something to say about her fundamental lack of knowledge regarding key issues, such as foreign policy.

“Her lack of fundamental understanding of some key issues was dramatic,” said another McCain source with direct knowledge of the process to prepare Palin after she was picked. The source said it was probably the “hardest” to get her “up to speed than any candidate in history.” (This quote from CNN article here)

Sure, I can understand governor Palin’s frustration with how she is being handled in the McCain campaign.  Being closed off and kept on a tight leash, I don’t blame her for going “rogue.”  I do, however, think it is a stupid move for her to do these things if she is looking to get senator McCain elected.  First off, she is not running the campaign, she should do what McCain and his advisors has set up for her.  She should not be going off message and taking unplanned interviews if the campaign doesn’t want her to.  Secondly, there is only one week left in the election, If she were to go “rogue” she should have done it a long time ago and stood up to the “big boys” back when she accepted the nomination.  I truly believe that this was a stupid move, not only on the Governor’s part, but also the campaigns fault for going public with how they feel about Palin. (Do they really want him to win?)

What this portrays is a dysfunctional campaign.  A dysfunctional campaign just 8 days before the election doesn’t seem very fruitful for McCain.  It’s like an October surprise, only, from inside the McCain camp against senator McCain. From what I can tell, Sarah Palin has done little good for senator McCain.  If we were to make a comparison chart on the good she’s done and the not so good.  The only good that I can think of is that she brought the base back, but honestly picking Mitt Romney would’ve done the same thing.

Is Sarah Palin just looking out for herself now?  Does she see herself as the party’s leader after this election?  Does she care to get senator McCain elected?

I doubt she will be the leader of the republican party.  She has a good grip of the base, but independents? I don’t think so.

If senator McCain is to lose this election, and because of Sarah Palin I hope he does, it is fair to say that Governor Palin played a huge role in his downfall.  Not only as an unkowledgeable candidate, but also as a person who brought turmoil to the campaign and hurt it from the inside out.

Joe the plumber to run for congress…2010

I WAS CORRECT

In my previous post, I proposed a question, maybe Joe the Plumber is looking for his own political career.  It seems that is the case.  On a radio talk show, when asked if he would run for congress, Joe said “you know, I would be up for it.”

He has been in the spotlight of this political race, McCain selling the Joe the plumber brand to everyone who listens to his stump speeches.

It is really interesting how Joe the plumber, who ended up having his own problems with plumbing licenses, taxes, etc., has brought all this up.  Was he planning all of this? probably not because I doubt he knew he would receive this much attention, however.  He is now a well known figure throughout America, and may have a decent chance in 2010 if he keeps making headlines.  After this election though, I doubt Joe the plumber, aka Samuel Wurzelbacher will be making much of any headlines.  Joe the plumber is more than just one man now, that “name” now represents an entire class of people.

Considering Samuel Wurzelbacher has an entire class of people behind him (the middle class and small business owners according to McCain) forget 2010, maybe 2012?

McCain campaign worker lied about attack

One of McCain’s campaign workers, Ashley Todd, had accused an Obama supporter of attacking her and mugging her at an ATM because he saw that she had a McCain bumper sticker.  The alleged attacker had carved a B into her face, except the alleged attacker was in fact herself.  Yep, she may have actually hurt herself and went to the police blaming an Black obama supporter for committing the crime.

Apparently the police found inconsistencies in her story so the police issued a polygraph test.  She failed the polygraph test and then later confessed that she had been lying.

Both John McCain and Cindy McCain had called the family of Ashley Todd and wished them well during this ordeal.  The Obama Campaign contacted the family as well and urged the Pittsburgh police department in finding the criminal as quickly as possible.

Was she put up to it? if so by whom?

The first thing that I asked myself when I first heard about this story yesterday was why the hell would a guy go so far as to carve a B into her face when he was mugging her, it made no sense.  Apparently while he was carving the B he said “you will vote for Barack Obama.”  This isn’t a movie, it’s not a fantasy world, who actually says that to a person when they are being mugged.  A lot of it just made no sense to me.  I am glad that the truth is out, it was a hoax, and she is going to be charged by the Pittsburgh police.

What an idiot.  She deserves whatever she gets.

Al Qaeda supports John McCain

Al Qaeda came out on their website to support John McCain as the next President of the United States.  What is shocking to me is their reasoning of why they would support him.  They want senator McCain to be president because they feel that McCain will support and continue to carry out Bush’s foreign policies which may be so but McCain will do it better.  This threat scares the hell out of me.  On the website they claim to have an “October surprise” and will attack the United states, this attack will then cause all of us who are not going to vote for Senator McCain to move to him and vote for him. These terrorist bastards think that if John McCain is president that he will drive the war harder and further and we will eventually use up all resources and cause our nation to collapse much like the former soviet union fell.  It’s just plain disgusting.

This takes me back to the 2004 election in which al qaeda “endorsed” senator John Kerry as the president they preferred.  That announcement came in October around the same time this new endorsement has come to surface.  John Kerry lost the election in 2004 and that can be attributed to al qaeda’s endorsement because senator Kerry was considered to be the front runner up until this came out.  As history tells the story, Kerry lost.

What was different about Kerry’s endorsement and McCains endorsement is that they simply said they prefer Kerry.  We took that as they would enjoy Kerry because he won’t be as tough on them.  So we elected Bush again.  Osama bin Laden actually came out after the 2004 election and said that we are naive for re-electing Bush.  This time al qaeda is actually saying they will attack the United States and cause us to vote for McCain because he has more experience.

Al qaeda seems to think that they can drive fear into us and change the outcome of the election.  If those bastards think they can influence our election they are completely wrong.  If they do attack us, and we do elect McCain.  McCain will not drive this country to the ground.  He is a smart capable man, Al Qaeda is definitely underestimating him.  We need to think with our minds.  We need to vote with our own conscious.  We cannot let these bastards influence us and make us vote for a candidate based on fear alone.

What do YOU think of Sarah Palin?

I have talked about Sarah Palin, and I have made my thoughts of her pretty clear for the most part, in the nicest way possible.

My question to you is:
