Joe the Plumber

In last nights debate there was a character that seemed to come up from both John Mccain and Barack Obama more so John McCain.  His name? Joe the plumber.  Who exactly is Joe the plumber? During the Vice Presidential debate we had ‘dem hockey mom’s and joe sixpacks.’  Joe the plumber, according to the candidates, is your new improved middle class citizen formerly known as joe sixpack.

Joe the Plumber is actually a real person.  His real name is Joe Wurzelbacher. The reason he has been receiving so much attention is because he made a comment to senator Obama.  He said and I’m paraphrasing ‘I am trying to buy the plumbing business I have worked for many years and with your tax policy I will be paying more and won’t be able to afford the business.’  Senator Obama said I want to spread the wealth around…not exactly a great answer senator Obama.  There is a video of this confrontation on youtube.  This man has received so much media attention from Katie Couric and other morning shows, you would think he was a senator himself.  He isn’t.  This man was on with Katie Couric via the telephone and did say he was decided on a candidate before the debate and his rhetoric seemed to really sway towards senator McCain, praising him and not exactly doing the same for senator Obama.

In a CNN interview today, Joe said that he can see now that in Obama’s plan his taxes will not go up even if he buys this buisness.  I’m glad he acknowledges that fact only after McCain brought him up a bunch of times at the debate…Anyways, enough of Joe Wurzelbacker back to Joe the plumber.

What astonished me was how great of a role this person played in the debate it was definately very annoying, cuz honestly I don’t associate myself with Joe the plumber, I am not a plumber! I am not trying to buy a business, i’m a college student.  John McCain kept bringing the guy up and It honestly turned me away because I felt like he was trying too hard to relate to the people…especially Joe.  It’s like hearing a song for the first time and you think this is aright at first, but as time goes on you want nothing to do with it.  It’s like the character in the movie swing vote.  You got one man who becomes unbelievably crucial in the election process and the candidates are pandering to this one person for his vote.  Joe he plumber seems to be this real life person or is he just a gateway to the entire middle class?  Who knows all I know is that Joe the plumber is an up n coming star, I would love to ask a candidate a ridiculous question and be launched to instant fame as well…sadly the candidates don’t come to me, and honestly if I were around them I wouldn’t have much to say… Sarah Palin though….I would have a lot to ask her.  Perhaps Joe is looking for his own political career?

what if “Joe the Plumber’s real name was “Jose”, or “Achmed” Would Obama and Mccain still have brought his name up as many times in their debate? “Achmed the Plumber…we’re on your side!…our tax policies would benefit you Achmed!” just a thought….
